The scope of both these exhibitions is on a scale of international rather than local importance, and, in conjunction with the Stockholm Exhibition (to be treated in the September Number) and the Monza articles in the present issue, form a valuable survey of the best modern effort in Europe to-day. It is not too much to say that of the British architects practising to-day there are none doing more individual or significant work than Mr. MAXWELL AYRTON, of whom Mr. George Sheringham treats in an article illustrated from some of Mr. Ayrtton’s most recent and stimulating buildings. Dr. Adolf Behne contributes a monograph on the work of ARTHUR SEGAL, a prominent figure in present-day German art, and Claude Roger Marx writes a short appreciation of the widely-celebrated modern French artist PIERRE BONNARD. Mr. MALCOLM SALAMAN contributes his monthly PRINT SURVEY, and there are items of interest from America and, in interior decoration, by Messrs. Duncan Grant, Francis Bacon, and Waring & Gillow Ltd., besides the usual Notes and Reviews.
