'THE STUDIO' INTERNATIONAL PRIZE COMPETITIONS.
REVISED RULES.
(1) All subscribers to THE STUDIO are eligible to compete.
(2) Designs must be original and not traceable to any existing pattern. New ideas and new treatment, combined with workable detail and arrangement, will be the features considered by the judges.
(3) Drawings for competition must be legibly signed with pseudonym only. The Coupon given on p. xxvi, with details fully filled in, must accompany each drawing or set of drawings, and must be enclosed in a sealed envelope, on the outside of which is written only the pseudonym of the competitor. As this envelope will not be opened until after the awards have been made, any inquiry should be forwarded in a separate letter.
(4) The Proprietor of THE STUDIO reserves to himself the right of withholding all or any of the prizes, provided that, in the unanimous opinion of the judges, the drawings do not fulfil the rules of the Competition, or otherwise are of insufficient merit. He also reserves to himself the right to reproduce in THE STUDIO any of the drawings, designs and photographs submitted. All prize drawings, designs and photographic prints become the property of the proprietor of THE STUDIO, unless otherwise specified.
(5) No design, drawing or photographic print will be returned in any case unless accompanied by sufficient stamps for postage or carriage and packing. The term "sufficient postage" has been fixed at a minimum of sixpence, to cover the cost of packing, &c., unless otherwise indicated.
(6) All designs must be sent in packed flat, unless specially excepted in certain competitions.
(7) All designs, drawings and photographic prints and correspondence thereon to be addressed THE STUDIO, 44 Leicester Square, London, W.C., and marked "Prize Competitions," with the number of the Competition, "A XVI," "B XI," "C XI," &c., on the outside of the package or letter referring to it.

No amount of word juggling can alter the fact that of all piano-players the Pianola alone provides authoritative renderings.
WITHOUT the assistance of Paderewski, Moszkowski, Strauss, Bauer, Chaminade, and many other famous artistes, even the Pianola could not do this, but because these great musicians recognise the artistic possibilities of the instrument, they have furnished music roll interpretations, knowing that Pianola reproductions of such renderings will be instinct with the colour and general expression effects employed by them in the original performance.
It is only the Pianola that makes such results possible. You are invited to call; the instrument would interest you.

The BOSTEL FIREPLACE
A Safe Modern Fire.
Slow Combustion or Quick Combustion by lowering or raising the fire.
An Architect writes:
“I enclose cheque for BOSTEL STOVE. It is a great success, and I shall certainly use them in future. It burns very little coal, and has the great advantage of making no dust, and keeping the hearth perfectly clean.”
April 25, 1904.
A Builder writes:
“I beg to enclose cheque covering account, which please acknowledge. I am pleased to say that the BOSTEL HALL STOVE is a great success, my client is very pleased with it. This is doing the work that was previously done by an ordinary Dog Stove, with the addition of a Hot Water Radiator, at a considerable saving in fuel.”
A Doctor writes:
“Please receive my cheque for the account. I can speak in the highest praises of the BOSTEL FIRE. It fulfills all the requirements of slow, moderate and fast combustion, and not the least of its merits is, that a clean hearth is continually preserved. I have nine of these fires going now.”
June 11, 1905.
