DECORATIVE ART 1934 YEAR-BOOK OF "THE STUDIO" STUDIO
A reconstructed room, formerly an ugly and over-ornamented mid-Victorian room. This sitting-room in Madame Lansel’s flat in Mayfair has been ably reconstructed by Edward Croghan, the decoration being executed by Godfrey Giles & Co., London. The ceiling and walls are painted pale yellow. Curtains of brown velvet with copper pelmets matching the “Sunray” fire, which has a surround of mirrored glass. A long mirror between the windows adds to the length of the room, and a harmonious colour effect is produced by the Greek rug in brown and cream and the patterned yellow silk with which the chairs are upholstered.
